Thanks to all of you who have worked hard to make this past year so successful. We’ve gained many new members and were able to create new and exciting partnerships that will enable us to provide better and more meaningful services to you in the upcoming year.
The Summit (second annual) was a tremendous success. I want to thank the presenters who brought their expertise to the event. Thanks to the sponsors and exhibitors who helped make the event possible. And of course, thanks to all who attended the event. In a year when we would have expected a slight decrease in attendance because of the economy, the Summit actually saw a 15% increase. Summit 2010 will be held in the Vicksburg Convention Center on November 8 – 10. Mark your calendars and we are already working to ensure the next one will be the best one.
You are going to read and hear a lot about the message of “effective enforcement” this year. I would encourage you to listen carefully to the message rather than just react to the phrase. It is an issue that the Mississippi Damage Prevention Committee (MDPC) will continue to address going forward. I hope that when you are notified of a meeting in your area, you’ll take advantage of the invitation to share your thoughts with us. The best way to make damage prevention relative for you is to get involved with the process. The Committee is not just about legislation, it’s a group of stakeholders working together to establish reasonable and measurable steps for promoting damage prevention in Mississippi.
I appreciate the positive comments we continue to receive regarding the magazine. We remain convinced there are other great stories and perspectives throughout the state that need to be shared. Thanks again to those of you who have committed to supporting the message through advertising in the magazine. We are confident that the readers of this publication will support you when it is possible.
Our board remains convinced that the magazine will help build the partnerships necessary to create stronger and more effective damage prevention awareness in the state. I believe that it will also help build trust. Rest assured that your input is vitally important to creating this lasting relationship.
Thank you for the privilege and opportunity to serve you. I look forward to listening to and working with you to keep Mississippi a safer place for you and your family.
