Perspectives

From the Desk of Sam Johnson, Volume 4, Issue 3

It seems hard to believe that we are already in the last half of 2010. We continue to be encouraged by the many positive comments you share with us. Whether it be an article in the magazine or a word of support at one of the many meetings around the state, hearing from you that we are moving in the right direction is as comforting as a letter from home.

The Mississippi Damage Prevention Committee (MDPC) works diligently to spread the message of fair and effective damage prevention to all the stakeholders who live and work in the state. I hope that when you are notified of a meeting in your area, you’ll take advantage of the invitation to join the hundreds of men and women who have committed themselves to this critical task. The Committee is not just about legislation, it’s a group of stakeholders working together to establish reasonable and measurable steps for promoting damage prevention in Mississippi.

Our team is more convinced than ever of our responsibility to promote a better understanding of the power of partnership. We look for and appreciate the opportunity to visit with your group or association to share this critical message of cooperation.

Great progress continues to be made. We realize we don’t have all the answers, but the willingness to sit down and discuss the possibilities opens the door for new and innovative solutions to the challenges before us.

Additionally, I trust that you’ve marked your calendars for the upcoming Damage Prevention Summit. It is scheduled for November 8 – 10, 2010 and will be held at the Vicksburg Convention Center. Those of you who attended the event in Tunica the past couple of years already know why it is a must attend event. The Summit team has been working hard to secure just the right topics and speakers. This is the one damage prevention event you will not want to miss. I urge you to register soon and take advantage of early registration fees as well as the unbelievable room rates.

Log on to the Mississippi 811 website or the MDPC website to learn more about the event. I look forward to visiting with you in Vicksburg.

We are thankful that our Mississippi 811 magazine has been so well received. Again, I want to recognize those who have continued to support our efforts by advertising with us. As much as we needed this vehicle, I’m not sure we could have provided such a quality product without your support. I am also encouraged that others are now looking to get on board. If you are ready to join us in this effort and want to take advantage of the magazine as a way to get your message in front of the right audience, give us a call. We’ll show you just how easy it is.

See you in Vicksburg.
