Rutledge Joins 811 Family

Mississippi 811 recently added a new member to its family. Bill Rutledge, formerly the Mayor of Pontotoc, recently accepted an offer to work with Mississippi 811 as one of their Damage Prevention Coordinators.
“Bill’s experience and leadership with the Mississippi Municipal League and with Mississippi Rural Water Association has prepared him for this unique opportunity,” stated Sam Johnson, Executive Director of Mississippi 811. Sam continued, “Bill will help ensure that we properly meet the needs of our municipalities and rural water associations that are working to comply with recent legislation requiring all owner/operators of underground facilities to be a member of Mississippi 811.”
Bill Rutledge officially began his new position in July. When asked about his expectations for the new challenge, Bill replied, “It’s hard to imagine anybody being any luckier than I’ve been. My career hasn’t really changed all that much. I’ve always been interested in serving others, and working to protect our infrastructure and our families. So this new opportunity is just an extension of who I’ve always been. I look forward to working with the same people and the same organizations, and now the opportunity to make new friends has been given to me as well.”
It’s still damage prevention for Bill Rutledge and Mississippi 811. Bill gains a new perspective and Mississippi 811 gains Bill’s passion for public safety. Now that’s a win/win in anybody’s book.
